The Application Process
Applications can be downloaded or picked up from the co-op’s office located on the ground floor at the Co-op. Return completed application forms to the co-op’s office along with $28.00 application fee and income verification for every person over the age of 18. When submitting your application, please include income verification for each adult in the household. Without it we cannot process your application. Applications are processed according to the date that the completed application is received.
Once your application is received the Co-op will first perform administrative screening which includes:
- completing a credit check
- completing a landlord history check
- assess your ability to pay the applicable monthly market housing charge in full and on time
- assess your history of personal financial management (paying debts owed)
- verify all information on the application form
At the end of the administrative screening the Co-op will determine if your application should move on to the interview phase or not. Those who move on to the interview stage will be contacted by the Membership Selection Committee to schedule an interview where all persons over the age of 16 must attend.
Based upon the results of the administrative screening and interview the Board of Directors will decide whether to approve or decline your application.
Note: The Board will not provide a reason for approving or declining anyone’s application.
Upon approval by the Board of Directors, applicants will be placed on a waiting list for the appropriate size unit.
When an appropriate size unit becomes available, you will be notified and an appointment will be arranged to view the unit. If you accept the unit you will be required to sign an Occupancy Agreement and pay the first month Housing Charge plus the member deposit which is the same amount as the housing charges. All payments are due at signing.
Upon occupancy the member is entitled to all rights and privileges of membership at Roedean Co-op as long as the member continues to uphold and abide by the terms of the by-laws, agreements, policies, and regulations set by the Co-op.
